350 blood donors support Dugong Bombo Aklan blood letting

A total of 350 big-hearted blood donors supported this year’s “Dugong Bombo 2016” blood-letting activity in Kalibo, Aklan on November 12. 

DyIN-Bombo Radyo Kalibo spearheaded the annual event in collaboration with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC)-Aklan Chapter at Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports and Cultural Center. 

The simultaneous community project of Bombo Radyo Philippines in 24 areas aims to help save lives and to support the campaign to lessen blood supply shortage. 

Policemen, Philippine Army personnel and reservists, broadcasters, nurses, regular blood galloneers, volunteers, teachers and ordinary folks as far as Nabas and Batan also joined the Dugong Bombo “a little pain, a life to gain” bloodletting event. 

To date, a record 7,852 volunteer blood donors and 3,536 cc of blood were collected nationwide in Bombo Radyo blood donation campaign last Saturday.  


Bombo Radyo Kalibo station manager John Chester Redecio thanked the sponsors, non-government organizations, individuals, local government units and agencies and volunteers for supporting their meaningful activity.  

On the other hand, Red Cross-Aklan chapter officer-in-charge Mary Joe Galleon urged the public to contribute in the series of voluntary blood donation activity program.

Donors can donate at Red Cross-Aklan office located at F. Quimpo Street in Barangay Poblacion, Kalibo from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Voluntary blood donors are also encouraged to support the blood-letting activities in various municipalities and barangays in Aklan.
