12-hour power outage to hit parts of Aklan, Antique

Residents in the province of  Aklan and parts of Antique will experience power interruption lasting up to 12 hours on January 29, the National Grip Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). 

In its power advisory, NGCP said the power outage is due to preventive maintenance schedule of 50 megawatts power transformer No. 1 at Panit-an (Capiz) substation.

The de-energization will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to upgrade the 138 kilovolts Panit-an-Nabas (Aklan) transmission line.

NGCP said all works might be finished ahead of time and power restoration earlier than scheduled. 

In an advisory, the Aklan Electric Cooperative (Akelco) said the whole area coverage of Altavas substation covering the towns of Balete and Altavas except for the barangays of Feliciano, Feliciano Sur and Fulgencio Norte will be affected by power outage from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The towns of Madalag, Libacao, Batan, Banga, New Washington, Numancia, Lezo, Makato, Malinao, Tangalan, Ibajay, Nabas, Buruanga, Kalibo, Malay including Boracay Island and the northern towns of Pandan and Sebaste have scheduled power interruption from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. except some portions of Poblacion, Bakhaw Norte, Andagao and Pook in Kalibo.

The power outage will also affect power consumers of Iloilo III Electric Cooperative and Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco) on January 29 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.


As of January 25, NGCP said Visayas has a capacity of 1,957 megawatt and a peak demand of 1,670 MW.
