A lady councilor from Jordan, Guimaras was elected and proclaimed as regional council chairperson of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) for Western Visayas.
Ma. Sheila Gange ran unopposed along with Sangguniang Bayan member Julius Cezar Tajanlangit of Tobias Fornier of Antique, who was also elected as regional council vice-chairperson during an election held on November 18 at Bohol Plaza Hotel in Bohol.
Also elected were PCL-Aklan chapter president Teddy Tupas of Banga, Aklan as secretary-general; PCL-Iloilo chapter secretary general Arvin Losaria of Lambunao, Iloilo (treasurer); PCL-Capiz chapter president Elmer Arevalo of Mambusao, Capiz (auditor) and PCL-Iloilo chapter PRO Lawrence Anthony Gorriceta of Pavia, Iloilo as regional council public relations officer.
The nine newly-elected board of directors were Salvador Tenazas (Makato, Aklan); Raymond Malapajo (Maayon, Capiz); Annabelle Samaniego (Sibunag, Guimaras); Marilyn Edang (Nueva Valencia, Guimaras); Ferdinand Baguio (Sapian, Capiz); Mark Quimpo (Kalibo, Aklan); Erich Alocilja (San Jose, Antique); Samuel Delos Reyes and Precious Grace Panizales (San Enrique, Iloilo).
Some 60 provincial chapter officers from Western Visayas gathered in Bohol from November 18 to 20 for the PCL regional council election of officers and board of directors. The election was conducted by PCL Comelec chairperson Atty. Cedric Jaranila, Pototan, Iloilo councilor Licurdo Tirador and Mitchelle John Patricio, interim regional president from Pilar, Capiz.
Gange, who took over the seat from Patricio, will serve the presidency for three years until 2019.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 016-87 issued on June 23, 2016, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) mandated all PCL regional chairmen to convene all the provincial federations officers and city chapter officers to elect among themselves the Regional Council Officers within 90 days after the provincial federation and city chapter elections.
