A notorious drug pusher was killed by policemen during a shootout on November 9 in Malay, Aklan, the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) said.
Allan Rivero, 30, married, native of Davao City and temporarily staying at Barangay Yapak, Boracay Island, is the first drug suspect in Aklan to be killed by the police during a legitimate buy-bust operation.
Based on the initial report, the police operation was conducted at around 10:40 p.m. at Barangay Argao, about four kilometers away from Caticlan jetty port, by the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (RAIDSOTG) 6 led by Inspector Clark Philip Dinco.
Rivero allegedly drew his handgun and fired at the operatives after handling the sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer that prompted the police to fire upon the suspect. He was killed on the spot.
Dinco said the suspect is selling shabu to foreigners and local tourists in Boracay Island.
“Malaking bulto ng shabu ang binebenta niya lalo na pag malaki ang kliyente. May mga reklamo din sa kanya ang mga residente ng pag-abuso ng pangalan ng mga ahensiya, pati ang gun-for-hire activities. May na-recovered din sa kanya ang Scene of Crime Operation (SOCO) na maraming IDs na ginagamit niya posible sa illegal drug activities niya,” he added.
Rivero was placed under surveillance for almost two months before the buy-bust was carried out. Operatives also conducted two test buys with him in Boracay Island and Caticlan prior to Argao incident.
Police also seized a .45 caliber pistol and the buy-bust money from the suspect.
Rivero, who sustained three gunshot wounds in his body, was taken to a funeral parlor in Barangay Argao.
