Three business establishments in the province of Antique were conferred with the Bagwis Award of the Department of Trade and Industry during the Negosyo, Konsyumer atbp celebration held in Iloilo City recently.
The awardees for Silver Seal are Mr. Kuryente Electrical Retail Shop Category II Specialty Store (selling electrical products and wiring devices), and EMCOR, Inc. Category III Appliance Center.
For Bronze Seal, Quality Wise Home Furnishings and Accessories Category II Specialty Store was given the recognition during the event.
Provincial Director Mercedes Young lauded the endeavors of these establishments for promoting the highest level of business ethics and upholding fair and honest marketplace through voluntary self-regulation and service excellence.
She likewise encouraged other business establishments to participate in the said program.
BAGWIS is one of DTI’s programs which give due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business such that consumers get the best value for money, said Glen Fernando, Trade and Industry Development Specialist DTI Antique.
All retail establishments such as supermarkets, department stores, appliance centers, hardware stores and DTI-accredited service and repair shops can join the BAGWIS program.
The levels of awards are Bronze, Silver and Gold.
The month of October was declared as Consumer Welfare Month by virtue of Proclamation 1098 series of 1997. This year’s theme is Consumer Protection: A shared Responsibility.
