Buy-busts net suspects in Boracay

Two drug personalities – a photographer and embalmer -  were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Boracay lsland.


Michael Capangpangan, 34, native of Sitio Ambulong in Barangay Manoc-Manoc was apprehended at around 3:30 p.m. on December 11.

The suspect working as a photographer allegedly solda methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu from a poseur buyer for P1,000 in Sitio Lugutan in Barangay Manoc-Manoc.

During the search, the operatives recovered two sachets of suspected shabu and a mobile phone containing text messages of illegal drug transactions from Capangpangan's possession.

On December 7, an embalmer identified as Jesus Tayco, 47, resident of Cubay Norte in mainland Malay was also arrested in Sitio Lugutan after selling a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer.

Recovered from him were the P1,000 buy-bust money and another sachet of suspected shabu.

The suspects are facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The buy-bust operations were conducted by joint elements of Municipal Anti-Drug Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (MAIDSOTG), Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC), Maritime Police, Task Group Boracay and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
